GWYNEDD VALLEY, Penn. (April 12, 2017) –The Rutgers University-Camden outdoor track team piled up a load of accomplishments here Wednesday at the Gwynedd Mercy Mid-Week Twilight Invitational.
The Scarlet Raptors collected a new program record, three ECAC qualifiers and a near miss for another one, two winners and a trio of second-place finishes among their many accomplishments in the non-scoring meet.

Freshman
Kyleigh Stevenson (Carneys Point, NJ/Penns Grove) finished first out of 31 competitors in the javelin with an ECAC-qualifying throw of 35.64 meters. Stevenson, who had approached the ECAC minimum of 35.48 earlier in the season with a throw of 35.37, had finished second in the javelin in two straight meets before winning Wednesday.
The Scarlet Raptors also notched a win in the hammer throw from junior
Brianna Kearse (Stratford, NJ/Sterling), who beat a field of 21 competitors with a throw of 37.21 meters.
Sophomore sprinter
Cameron Dobbins (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), meanwhile, ran ECAC qualifiers in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, marking the third time in four meets that he earned ECAC qualfiers in both events. Dobbins actually ran
three ECAC qualifiers, finishing second of 36 in the 100-meter preliminaries with a time of 11.07 and placing second of eight in the 100-meter finals with a 10.98 clocking. Both times beat the ECAC qualifying standard of 11.11. Dobbins also finished second of 48 in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.83, beating the ECAC minimum of 22.35.
Sophomore
Drew Harper (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) made short work of the program record he set in the hammer on Saturday at the Oscar Moore Open. Harper had a hammer throw of 39.41 meters to finish fourth of 20, breaking his four-day old record of 39.15 meters.
Junior
Alisha Singleton (Somerdale, NJ/Sterling) nearly brought home another ECAC qualifier, coming tantalizingly close to the standard of 15.81 in the 100-meter hurdles. Singleton posted a 15.82 clocking in the 100 hurdles preliminaries, placing second of 15. In the finals, she finished second of eight in a time of 15.95. Singleton also finished third of 46 in the 100-meter dash preliminaries (13.11) before placing eighth of eight in the finals (14.37).
In other highlights, freshman
Matt Gross (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) continued his outstanding performances in the javelin, placing fourth of 29 with a throw of 51.72 meters. On the women's side, another impressive young javelin thrower, freshman
Nicole DeMarco (Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) placed 15th of 31 (27.85 meters).
Sophomore
Ki-Jana Shockley (Millville, NJ/Millville) finished sixth of 29 in the shot put (10.16 M) and ninth of 21 in the hammer (29.50 M).
Freshman
Nicolette Stafford (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional) placed ninth of 32 in the 400-meter dash (1:03.71) and 19th of 58 in the 200-meter dash (28.68). Sophomore
Shontiana Butcher (Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) finished 17th of 46 in the 100-meter dash (13.80) and 27th of 58 in the 200-meter dash (29.38), while sophomore
Emoni Poteat (Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow Township) was 39th of 58 at 200 M (30.34) and 24th of 32 at 400 meters (1:10.89).
On the men's side, junior
Eric Gilchrist Jr. (New Castle, DE/Christiana) finished sixth of 39 at 400 meters in a time of 51.41, while freshman
Alfred Banks Jr. (Camden, NJ/Camden) placed 14th of 48 at 200 meters (23.64). Freshman
Zavior Masters-Thomas (Philadelphia, PA/Maple Shade) finished 20th of 39 at 400 meters (54.37) and 34th of 48 at 200 meters (25.08).
At 800 meters, freshman
Gus Gyamfi (Willingboro, NJ/BCIT-Westampton) finished 33rd of 53 in a time of 2:10.96.
Junior
Ken Robinson (Teaneck, NJ/Blessed Sacrament Saint Gabriel) placed 17th of 27 in the shot put (10.34 M).
Rutgers-Camden will take the weekend off and return to action April 21-22 at the Widener University Invitational.
