Sophomore midfielder Nicole Martin has played a major role in leading the Rutgers-Camden women’s lacrosse team to a 5-2 record, the best start in the program’s seven-year history. A transfer who played her freshman season at Division II University of New Haven (New Haven, Connecticut), Martin compiled seven goals and six assists, while adding 11 ground balls, five caused turnovers and eight draw controls as the Scarlet Raptors won both of their games last week. She had three goals, four assists, four ground balls, four caused turnovers and six draw controls in a 14-5 win over Delaware Valley (March 22) and four goals, two assists, seven ground balls, one caused turnover and two draw controls in a 19-6 victory over Penn State-Abington (March 24). Through the Scarlet Raptors’ first seven games, she ranks first on the team in assists (13), points (32), draw controls (29) and caused turnovers (13), second in ground balls (22) and third in goals (19).
