We are committed to evidence based practice for preventing, assessing, and treating musculoskeletal injuries, providing optimal healthcare, and returning student-athletes to athletic participation as quickly and safely as possible.
We will remain committed to the continuous advancement of sports medicine knowledge and equipment used in the delivery of athletic training services insuring that each student-athlete has the best possible healthcare and opportunity to participate in intercollegiate athletics.
The Board of Certification (BOC) defines Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs) as health care professionals who work under the supervision of a Physician. The services provided by ATCs are comprised of prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) as a healthcare profession.
Rutgers University-Camden employs two certified athletic trainers who are qualified to assess, treat, and rehabilitate most injuries you may incur while participating in our intercollegiate athletic program. The Rutgers University-Camden athletic training staff provides services to approximately 300 student-athletes participating in 17 intercollegiate sports. The ATCs qualifications include: a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in a Sports Medicine field, Certification by the National Athletic Trainer's Association, Licensure with the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners, and certification in CPR. They must also complete 50 hours of continuing education every two years.
