Freshman back Antonio Romero not only made his first three collegiate starts last week for the Rutgers-Camden men’s soccer team, but he also scored his first collegiate goal to give the Scarlet Raptors one of their biggest wins in a long time. Romero’s first-half header produced the lone goal of the game as Rutgers-Camden edged fifth-ranked Haverford College, 1-0, in a road game Oct. 5. The win marked the first time during Head Coach Tim Oswald’s tenure that the Scarlet Raptors defeated a team which was nationally-ranked in the Top 5 at game time. Overall, Rutgers-Camden went 2-1 during its three games last week, limiting opponents to two goals. Romero, a big 6-5 center back, has appeared in seven games overall this season, taking one shot to produce his game-winning goal.
