Sophomore golfer Cory Meyer not only broke into the starting lineup for Rutgers-Camden’s A Team last week, but he led all Rutgers-Camden players on a very windy day at the RU-Camden Scarlet Raptor Fall Golf Invitational Oct. 24. Meyer carded a 6-over par 76 at the Pennsauken Country Club to finish second overall out of 39 players, only four shots behind the medalist as nobody hit par under the difficult conditions. His performance helped the Rutgers-Camden A Team capture the eight-team event with a 311 score. The Scarlet Raptors finished their fall semester with four straight invitational titles and a 68-4 record overall. Meyer, meanwhile, averaged 81.7 in three fall invitationals after a tough start to the fall with a 92 at the season-opening Moravian Invitational. He shot the best two rounds of his collegiate career in his last two outings – a 77 at the Stockton Invitational Oct. 12 to place fourth of 25 golfers and his 76 at the RU-Camden Scarlet Raptor Fall Golf Invitational. A North Eastern Athletic Conference Second Team player as a freshman when he helped Rutgers-Camden win its fourth straight NEAC title last spring, Meyer owns an 81.1 average in 16 career rounds of intercollegiate competition for the Scarlet Raptors.
