Tri-captain Mike Naylor wrapped up a stellar senior year as the Rutgers-Camden men’s soccer team closed the regular season with a 2-1 loss at the College of New Rochelle Saturday. The game was the 77th career contest for Naylor, tying him for 25th on the program’s all-time list. A standout for the Scarlet Raptors at center back, Naylor helped anchor the defense for a young team that posted a 1.13 goals-against average and seven shutouts this season. He contributed one goal and one assist for three points this year and captured his first all-New Jersey Athletic Conference honor by being named to the All-Conference First Team. Earlier this season, he earned recognition on the Cialella Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team. Over his 77 career games he compiled three goals and two assists for eight points. Since becoming a full-time starter as a junior, he helped Rutgers-Camden post 15 shutouts, while making numerous clutch backsaves and exhibiting tenacious defensive abilities. Naylor will extend his career in the ECAC Division III Men's Soccer Championships when the Scarlet Raptors host Hunter College Saturday in a first-round game.
