Senior Matt Curtis had a stellar weekend for the Rutgers-Camden indoor track team, running ECAC qualifiers on back-to-back days and breaking his own program record in the 200-meter dash. An All-American last year in both indoor and outdoor track, Curtis ran in the 400-meter Dash Championship preliminaries at the Armory Collegiate Invitational on Friday in New York City. Competing against athletes from all NCAA divisions, he posted a 48.54 clocking for his third ECAC qualifying time this season at 400 meters. He finished 19th of 36 athletes and barely missed his own program mark in the event. On Saturday, competing in the Monmouth University Winter Open, he ran an ECAC qualifier in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.66, breaking his own program record for that distance. He finished second of 27 athletes, trailing only an unattached former athlete at Division I Monmouth. So far this season Curtis has run ECAC qualifiers at both 200 and 400 meters and also as a member of the Scarlet Raptors’ 4x400 team, where he served as the anchor.
