Freshman forward Meghan Wachira set a Rutgers-Camden women’s soccer single-season program record on Saturday by scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over New Jersey Athletic Conference rival Kean University. It was Wachira’s sixth game-winning goal of the season, breaking the old program mark of five set by Heather Greenwald in 2003. Overall, it was Wachira’s 11th goal of the season, the most by a Scarlet Raptor since Samantha Sharp also had 11 in 2009. Wachira leads the team in scoring with 24 points (11 goals, two assists) and owns all of the game-winning tallies for the 6-8 Scarlet Raptors. In addition to earning Raptor of the Week honors, Wachira was named the NJAC Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week on Monday.
