It didn’t take long for junior Cameron Dobbins to announce his presence during indoor track season. In the Scarlet Raptors’ first meet of the season, at the TCNJ Winter Opener held at New York’s 168th Street Armory Saturday night, Dobbins earned an ECAC qualifier in the 60-meter dash and set Rutgers-Camden program records in both the 60-meter dash and the 300-meter dash. In the 60-meter preliminaries, Dobbins reached the finals with an ECAC-qualifying time of 7.06, placing third of 31 runners. In the finals, he was third of eight with an ECAC time of 6.98, breaking his own program mark of 6.99 set at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 20, 2017. Dobbins also set a program record with a 35.64 time in the 300-meter dash, finishing third out of 36 athletes. The old mark of 37.14 was held by Rob O’Brien and set at the MAC Classic on Dec. 14, 2014. Dobbins completed his season-opening performance running the second leg of the Scarlet Raptors’ sprint medley, which finished fifth of seven in a time of 3:50.35. Dobbins now holds four indoor program records (two individual, two relay) to go along with his three (two individual, one relay) from outdoor season.
