Athlete Awards Athletes of the Week Choose Awards Type All Athlete Awards Athletes of the Week Nina Arroyo Award Athletes of the Week Week Of 3/19/2018 Sport Softball Bio View Full Bio Freshman second baseman Nina Arroyo was one of the big cogs helping the Rutgers-Camden softball team to a 6-3 record last week and a 7-4 overall mark at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. While starting all nine of the Raptors’ games during the week, the Arroyo hit .412 (14-for-34) to set the table from the leadoff spot. She scored nine runs, had nine RBIs, collected one double and added one triple. She also reached base three times on walks and once as a hit batsman. She added a sacrifice and was successful on her only stolen base attempt. Defensively, Arroyo had 24 putouts, 15 assists and two errors for a .951 fielding percentage, while also turning one double play. Arroyo started her Raptor softball career hitting safely in her first nine games. Overall this season, she has started all 11 of Rutgers-Camden’s games, hit safely in 10 of them, and owns a .429 batting average, the highest mark among all regulars on the team. She is tied for the team high with 13 runs scored and leads the club with 18 hits.
