Freshman guard Wykira Johnson-Kelly has played a major role in the success of the Rutgers University-Camden women’s basketball team this season. Last week she exhibited her talents by averaging a double-double of 20.0 points and 10.3 rebounds in three road games for the Scarlet Raptors. She added eight steals, six assists and one blocked shot. In a non-conference win at Wilkes University on Jan. 14, Johnson-Kelly collected 17 points and eight rebounds, while adding four steals. She notched back-to-back double-doubles in a pair of New Jersey Athletic Conference games at Rowan University Wednesday (20 points/13 rebounds) and at William Paterson University Saturday (23 points/10 rebounds). Johnson-Kelly already has earned two NJAC Rookie of the Week honors in her short career (Nov. 12 and Dec. 10). She leads the Scarlet Raptors with a 7.1 rebounding average and is second on the team in scoring, averaging 16.0 points. She also is second on the team in both assists (44) and steals (35).
