Rutgers-Camden Athletics

Sophomore designated hitter Brett Yurgin opened the Rutgers-Camden baseball season in style Sunday at Immaculata, hitting in both games as the Scarlet Raptors split a doubleheader. Yurgin went 5-for-8 (.625) with four runs, two runs batted in, a walk, a double and a home run. He was successful on all three of his stolen base attempts, posted a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.125 slugging percentage. In the Raptors opening-game loss, Yurgin went 2-for-4 with two runs, two stolen bases and one RBI, while hitting the team’s first home run of the season. In the second game, he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one RBI, one double, one stolen base and one walk. As a freshman in 2019, Yurgin earned New Jersey Athletic Conference Second Team honors, was recognized as the NJAC Rookie of the Year and captured two NJAC Rookie of the Week awards.
