Senior ace Sarah Byrnes picked up her first two victories of the season as the Rutgers-Camden softball team swept New Jersey City University, 14-2 and 14-1, in a pair of five-inning games to open the New Jersey Athletic Conference season. Byrnes hurled the first four innings in each game, throwing shutout ball. She allowed only two hits and no walks in the opener, while striking out nine. In the nightcap, she didn't allow any hits over her four innings, while walking three and striking out four. She also helped her own cause at the plate, going 3-for-8 with two runs and two RBIs in the doubleheader.
