Junior first baseman Jack Murphy had another fine week for the Rutgers University-Camden baseball team, hitting .417 (5-for-12) with a .588 on-base percentage and an .833 slugging percentage. Murphy ripped two doubles and one home run, while scoring two runs and adding two RBIs, four walks and one HBP in helping the Scarlet Raptors post a 3-1 record during the week. One of those wins came when he was on the mound as he worked seven shutout innings, allowing eight hits and one walk, while striking out seven to pick up a 3-2 victory over Keystone College April 5. He is 2-2 with a 3.00 ERA on the mound in 18 innings this season, but his biggest contribution has been his booming bat. He leads the team with a .370 batting average, eight home runs, 23 RBIs, 14 walks, a .490 on-base percentage and a .741 slugging percentage. His eight home runs are one shy of tying the program’s single-season record, shared by Brian Murphy (2001) and Connor Hall (2014).
