Misko earned his honor by winning the NJAC hammer throw championship for the third time in his career, while breaking his own NJAC Championship record with a throw of 61.92 meters. He won the event by nearly nine meters over his next-closest competitor. Misko, who also won the NJAC hammer title in 2019 and 2021 (the NJAC championships weren’t held in 2020 due to the pandemic) set the old conference mark at last year’s championships with a 61.19-meter throw. Misko became the first Scarlet Raptor to be named as the top male athlete at the NJAC meet since Matt Curtis was named the Outstanding Male Track Athlete in 2014. The last time the Raptors had the Outstanding Male Field Athlete at the NJAC meet was in 2013, when Tim VanLiew captured the honor on the way toward winning his second straight NCAA Division III javelin championship. Misko, who captured the NCAA Division III hammer title last year, will go for a repeat performance at the national championships in Ohio later this month. Misko’s previous two Raptor of the Week honors this year came on Jan. 31 and Feb. 7 during indoor track season.
