Freshman forward Cameron Downs continued his stellar rookie season for the Rutgers-Camden men’s basketball team last week, averaging 23 points in a pair of games while shooting 18-for-28 overall from the floor. In a loss at Kean University Jan. 4, Downs scored a career-high 29 points, shooting 11-for-16, including 3-for-4 from three-point range, and also went 4-for-4 from the foul line. Three days later, he scored 17 points and added five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one blocked shot at Ramapo College. He shot 7-for-12 from the floor in that game. For the season, he leads the team in scoring (13.1 ppg) and rebounding (5.6 rpg), while tying for the club lead with six blocked shots. Downs also was named the Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week on November 28 and also earned honors that day as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.
