Senior right-handed pitcher Ethan Carpenter got the Rutgers-Camden baseball season off to a great start in the opening game of a doubleheader Saturday. Carpenter hurled six shutout innings to pick up the victory in the Scarlet Raptors’ eventual 4-1 win over Immaculata University, a team that entered the season receiving 11 votes toward the pre-season D3baseball.com Top 25. Carpenter allowed only four hits, one walk and one hit batsman, while striking out five. One of the team’s four captains for the 2024 season, Carpenter was the team’s ace last season with a 5-3 record and a 3.72 ERA in 46 innings, starting all eight of his games.
