Junior forward Cameron Downs earned his third Raptor of the Week honor this season after averaging 24.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in a pair of games for the men’s basketball team last week. In a big conference win over Rowan University on Wednesday, Downs collected 26 points, tying his season high, and added three rebounds, four assists and one steal. In a loss at Montclair State on Saturday, he scored 22 points and added six rebounds and one assist. Downs’ big week raised his career scoring output to 1,131 points, the 13th-highest total in program history. With 16 more points he will pass three players and move into the program’s top 10. For the season, Downs is averaging team-leading totals of 17.6 points and 6.9 rebounds, while also leading the Scarlet Raptors with 40 assists. He is second on the team with 11 blocked shots and tied for third with 23 steals. Downs also won Raptor of the Week honors this season on November 25 and December 16.
