Rutgers-Camden second baseman Frankie Romond has been a potent part of the Scarlet Raptors’ offense all season long and produced a stellar performance in the team’s five games last week. A senior academically who has junior eligibility, Romond hit .571 (12-for-21) with three doubles, four home runs, three walks, nine runs and nine RBIs last week. He had a 1.286 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base percentage, while also handling all 25 defensive chances cleanly with 12 putouts and 13 assists. He hit a home run in both ends of the doubleheader against William Paterson on Saturday to hike his team-leading total to eight home runs, one shy of tying the single-season program mark. In addition to his home runs, Romond leads the team in batting average (.385), hits (57), triples (4), RBIs (42), total bases (102), slugging (.689), on-base percentage (.444) assists (95) and double plays (24). He is second on the team in doubles (13) and third in runs scored (36).
