Senior back Taylor McGrory ended his career in spectacular fashion at the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Final Four in San Antonio, Texas, Dec. 6-7. He was named to the all-tournament team and recognized as the Most Outstanding Defensive Player on the team. In addition to his usual stellar defense at center back, McGrory scored his only two goals of the season –two of the most significant goals in the history of the men’s soccer program. With time winding down in Friday night’s semifinal against Loras College, McGrory scored with 2:30 remaining in regulation to tie the game at 2-2, setting up the Scarlet Raptors’ 3-2 overtime win. A day later, in the national championship game against perennial power Messiah College, McGrory again sent the game to overtime with a late goal, tying the score at 1-1 with 11:17 left in regulation. Making their first-ever appearance in the NCAA title game, the Scarlet Raptors took the defending national champions to double-overtime before losing, 2-1. McGrory closed his four-year career having played in 86 games (50 starts). He collected seven career goals (one game winner) and six assists for 20 points. The Scarlet Raptors posted a 72-14-8 record during his four-year career, including an ECAC Metro title (2010) and three straight New Jersey Athletic Conference championships and NCAA appearances (2011, 2012, 2013), capped by reaching the Div. III title game.
