Sophomore goalkeeper Angela Martorano turned in a stellar effort in her second career start for the Rutgers-Camden women’s soccer team, collecting seven saves, including a pair of goal-saving stops, in a 1-0 victory over Ramapo College Saturday. It was her first career victory and first shutout. In the scoreless first half, Martorano made a leaping save to bat a shot over the crossbar that was ticketed for the top of the net. Later in the half, she made a 1-on-1 save of a breakaway at the top of the box. Her performance, in the Scarlet Raptors’ lone game of the week, allowed Rutgers-Camden to climb into a sixth-place tie with Rutgers-Newark in the New Jersey Athletic Conference standings and keep the Raptors alive in the quest for their first NJAC playoff berth since 2007. She lowered her goals-against average to 0.73 and raised her save percentage to .905.
