Freshman goalkeeper Sean Matias had a big week for the Rutgers-Camden men’s soccer team, including a huge performance Nov. 1 in a 1-0 overtime victory against William Paterson University in the first round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs. Matias made nine saves, including several stellar ones, to keep the Scarlet Raptors’ playoff hopes alive as Rutgers-Camden was out-shot, 19-7, by Paterson. He recorded his third career shutout in that game. Earlier in the week, he made three saves in a 1-1 tie at Richard Stockton College Oct. 29 in the Scarlet Raptors’ final game of the regular season. Overall he worked all 202:27 minutes during the week with 12 saves, a 0.44 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage. Matias has appeared in 10 games during his freshman season, starting six games, including the last four. He has posted a 4-1-1 record with 31 saves, a .775 save percentage and a 1.20 goals-against average.
