Men’s soccer midfielder Connor Hurff started out the scholastic year as Rutgers-Camden’s first Raptor of the Week for the fall semester (Sept. 7), and he closes his senior season with another weekly honor after capping his brilliant Scarlet Raptor career with two games in the NCAA tournament over the weekend. Hurff notched an assist and the game-winning goal in a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Eastern University in a First Round game on Saturday before the Raptors were eliminated by nationally-ranked host SUNY-Oneonta, 2-0, Sunday. Hurff’s assist was his team-leading 11th of the season, tying for the fifth-highest single-season total in program history. It gave him 24 assists for his three-year Raptor career, tying for fourth on the program’s all-time list. The goal was his 21st career tally and gave him 66 career points at Rutgers-Camden, eighth on the program’s all-time list. The senior tri-captain played in 73 games (all starts) out of the Raptors’ 75 contests during his three-year Rutgers-Camden career after transferring to the school from Rutgers-New Brunswick. Over those three years, Rutgers-Camden went 53-17-5, went to three New Jersey Athletic Conference championship games, winning twice, captured an ECAC Metro/Upstate title and earned two NCAA Division III tournament berths. The Scarlet Raptors went 5-2 in their seven NCAA tourney games over the 2013 and 2015 seasons, and earned a berth in the 2013 national championship game.
