Lloyd Pearson
Men's and Women's Head Tennis Coach

College: Rowan University (1995)

The 2014-2015 season marks Coach Pearson's fourth year at the helm of the Rutgers-Camden Men’s and Women’s Tennis Program.

Pearson was honored as the NJAC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year for the Scarlet Raptors 2013 season.  Pearson’s honor, coming in a vote by his peers, came after he led the Scarlet Raptors to a 10-6 record in the fall. The Scarlet Raptors, in only their third year since reviving a long-dormant tennis program, also finished 3-3 in NJAC play for fourth place.

The men's team continued their NEAC regualr season win streak with a perfect 4-0 record (NEAC regular season record 10-0).  The men's team claimed the NAC West Division regular season title for the second consecutive year.  He led the team to a second place finish in the NAC West Division Tournament. Six Rutgers-Camden players were selected to the All-Conference Teams. The Scarlet Raptors finished the season 9-6.

Pearson led the Women’s and Men’s Tennis Teams to a successful 2012-2013 season. The women’s team finished the fall season 10-5 overall and 2-4 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Coach Pearson improved the women's tennis program from a winless season in the 2011 (0-9, NJAC 0-5) to a 10 win season with multiple school records broken along the way. Freshman sensation Amanda Hickman (27 wins) was named as the NJAC Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Year, but she also was named to the All-Conference Singles Team.

The Men’s Team had a stellar season with a perfect 6-0 record in the North Eastern Atlantic Conference.  The men’s team won the NAC West Division regular season title and the NAC West Division Tournament Championship.  Pearson was selected by his peers as the NEAC Coach of the Year.  Six Rutgers-Camden players were selected to the All-Conference Teams.

In Pearson's first year, the Raptor's team enjoyed great individual success, despite finishing the season 0-10 overall and 0-6 in the NJAC.  Freshman Katie Read posted one NJAC singles victory for two wins on the season.  The second doubles duo of Read and Casey Crenny finished 1-3 in the fall. Off the courts, Crenny, along with Nicole DeLecce, received NJAC All-Academic honors for outstanding work in the classroom.

Pearson, who now plays in USTA events, started coaching at Lindenwold High School during the 2002-03 scholastic season, spending four seasons molding a brand new women’s program into a strong team in the Colonial Conference. After going 0-19 and 1-21 in its first two years, Lindenwold improved to 10-13 and 16-8 in Pearson’s final two seasons in which he earned Coach of the Year honors in 2005.

Pearson spent the next three seasons at Pitman High School, where his girls’ team won the Group 1 state title in 2006 with a 22-1 record. The last two seasons he has coached at Bishop Eustace Prep. His 2011 team posted a 17-1 record.

A four-year letterman at Neptune High School, where he played first singles, Pearson spent two years at first singles for Brookdale Community College before attending Rowan University. He spent two seasons at third singles for the Prof’s, where he was the NJAC runner-up both seasons. He also won a conference championship at second doubles during his senior year and graduated from Rowan in 1995 with a degree in Law and Justice.
