By the end of Hodgson’s first season, the Raptors had compiled a 6-8-2 record for their best winning percentage (.438) since 2008. They finished with a 3-0-1 mark in their last four games and barely missed qualifying for a berth in the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs by posting a 0-0 tie at Stockton University on the last day of the season. A win would have given them their first post-season berth since 2007.

Hodgson’s first Rutgers-Camden team included three players who earned NJAC Honorable Mention recognition: Aubrey Andrews, Catherine Fiore and Tori Gerstenacker. The team also saw seven members earn all-conference academic honors, including Lauren Celona, Katie Gurba, Rebecca Maguire, Angela Martorano, Lacey Stackhouse, Kelsey Tierney and Kelly Barbone, who will join the Raptors’ coaching staff this fall.

A native of Liverpool, England, Hodgson brings a wealth of coaching and academic experience to the Rutgers-Camden.

Hodgson served as an assistant women’s soccer coach at Saint Peter’s University in 2003 before moving on to Drew University, where he assisted the women’s program from 2004-08 and again from 2010-13. Between his two stints at Drew, he was the Head Women’s Coach at Cedar Crest College.

Hodgson served as an assistant coach with Sky Blue FC of the W-League from 2007-08 and worked with recruitment and match analysis for the Chicago Red Stars of Women’s Professional Soccer from 2009-11.

A coach with the U.S. Soccer Olympic Development Program as well, he has been a member of the Girls Region 1 ODP Staff. He also is the Head Club Soccer Coach with the Players Development Academy out of Westampton, New Jersey, including the 18 PDA Force, a team which is the current U-17 NPL National Champion.

Hodgson graduated from Worcester University in the United Kingdom in 2000 with a B.S. in Sports & Exercise Studies. He received his ESL/TEFL Diploma through Cambridge University in 2000, allowing him to teach English as a second and foreign language, and obtained a M.S. in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California University of Pennsylvania in 2013.

An educator at numerous schools, Hodgson most recently was a Director of Medical Assisting A.A.S. at Esperanza College of Eastern University. He also was a professor of Anatomy and Physiology at that institution, and serves as a firefighter for Mount Arlington (NJ) Fire and Rescue. He formerly taught courses ranging from Biology, Kinesiology, Physiology, Health Science, Physical Education and Wellness at schools ranging from Drew University to various high schools and grade schools.
