CHESTER, Penn. – The undefeated Widener University women's soccer team scored three second-half goals and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 3-0, in a non-conference game here Thursday night.

The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for Rutgers-Camden, which falls to 2-3. Widener, which improved to 4-0-1, has won four straight games by shutout scores since an opening-day tie.

After a scoreless first half, the Pride broke the deadlock with a goal at 55:02 by senior midfielder Karen Thomas (Mullica Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic). Her fifth goal of the season came on a tap-in off a loose ball near the goal.

Thomas drew an assist on a goal 19 minutes later when she ripped a shot off the left post and senior midfielder Kelly Buckley (Villanova, PA/Radnor) scored on a shot off the right post. It was the second goal of the season for Buckley.

Buckley had nine of Widener's shots as the Pride held a 19-7 advantage in shots and a 6-2 margin in corner kicks.

The Pride tacked on its final goal in the last minute when junior midfielder Jenna Pedrick (Sicklerville, NJ/Paul VI) tucked a shot inside the left post off a cross from freshman midfielder Erica McDonough (Glendora, NJ/Paul VI). Buckley also added an assist on the play.

Rutgers-Camden senior goalie Lauren West (Mantua, NJ/Clearview Regional) made seven saves, while Widener senior goalie Valarie Perretti (Clayton, NJ/Clayton) made three saves to earn the shutout.

Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday with a 4 p.m. game at Goucher College.
