ST. DAVIDS, Penn. (Oct. 7, 2015) – Sophomore back Ashley Zemeski (Reinholds, PA/Cocalico) scored the lone goal of the game 3:06 into the first overtime period to lift the Eastern University women's soccer team over Rutgers University-Camden, 1-0, in a non-conference game here Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles improve to 5-6-1 with their second straight victory, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 3-5-1 with their third straight loss.

Eastern now leads the all-time series, 2-1.

The Eagles' winning goal came off a short corner kick by sophomore back Caroline Lozzi (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air), who tapped the ball to freshman midfielder Katy Laurie (Huntingdon, NY/Huntingdon) and then got it back again. Lozzi lofted a cross into the goal mouth. Zemeski found the loose ball and finished her second goal of the season.

In the evenly-played game, Eastern had a 17-15 edge in shots and a 9-5 lead in corner kicks. Sophomore Katie Gurba (Westampton, NJ/Holy Cross) made eight saves in goal for the Scarlet Raptors, while freshman goalie Adrianna Swinehart (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) had seven saves for the Eagles.

The Scarlet Raptors return to action Saturday with a 1 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference game at Ramapo College.
