Rowan women blank Rutgers-Camden, 6-0

GLASSBORO, N.J. (Sept. 30, 2015) – Freshman midfielder Darah Wagner (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored two goals and senior forward Tiffany Kelly (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) added one goal and two assists to lead the Rowan University women's soccer team over Rutgers University-Camden, 6-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday night.
 
Rowan improves to 7-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the NJAC. The Profs have won three straight games and been undefeated (4-0-1) in their last five contests.
 
Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-3-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the NJAC, snapping a three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-1).
 
The Profs, who own a 15-0-2 record against the Scarlet Raptors in the all-time series, scored only 1:59 into the game when Wagner ripped a shot from the top of the box into the lower right corner, assisted by junior midfielder Megan Carchidi (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional). Kelly notched a penalty kick at 11:45 and the Profs carried a 2-0 lead into halftime.
 
Rowan scored four goals in the second half, including a header by Wagner, off a Kelly corner kick, only 3:50 after the break. Junior forward Maxine New (Clayton, NJ/Clayton), junior midfielder Lisa Cella (Middletown, NJ/Middletown North) and freshman midfielder Kylie Kieffer (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) each added a goal in a 10-minute span midway through the second half.
 
Rowan held an 18-5 advantage in shots and a 10-0 lead in corner kicks. Raptor sophomore goalie Katie Gurba (Westampton, NJ/Holy Cross) made seven saves and allowed six goals in 78:56, while junior Angela Martorano (Somerdale, NJ/Triton Regional) finished up the game with one save in the final 11:04.
 
Rowan freshman goalie Shelby Money (Vineland, NJ/Vineland) earned the shutout, making four saves.
 
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday, when the Scarlet Raptors host Kean University in a 1 p.m. NJAC game.
