CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 17, 2018) – The Ursinus College women's soccer team put the pressure on Rutgers University-Camden early and often in the first half of a non-conference game here Wednesday night, and although the Bears only came away with one goal, they made it stand up for a 1-0 victory.
Freshman Leigh Willis scored only 4:47 into the game off a scramble near the left post. Her first collegiate goal, following a corner kick by Avery Webster, helped the Bears even their record at 6-6-2.
Rutgers-Camden dropped to 7-6-2, snapping a four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1).
The Bears out-shot Rutgers-Camden, 9-1, in an opening half played mostly on the Scarlet Raptors' defensive half. Raptor sophomore goalie
Natalie Eberhardt made all four of her saves in the opening half.
In the second half, the Scarlet Raptors held a 6-4 edge in shots as Ursinus sophomore goalie Sabrina Doherty made all five of her saves.
Ursinus finished with a 13-7 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
Rutgers-Camden returns to New Jersey Athletic Conference play Saturday with a 5 p.m. game at William Paterson University.
