MONTCLAIR, N.J. (Sept. 21, 2019) – The Montclair State University women's soccer team scored three goals early in the second half here Saturday and that scoring outburst proved to be more than enough as the Red Hawks blanked Rutgers University-Camden, 3-0, in the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Montclair State improves to 5-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC, while Rutgers-Camden falls to 0-6 and 0-1. The Red Hawks are now 21-0-2 in their all-time series against the Scarlet Raptors.
The two NJAC opponents played to a scoreless first-half draw, with both teams taking a pair of corner kicks and MSU holding a 4-0 advantage in shots.
Montclair State tallied three goals in a span of 9:02 early in the second half, with sophomore Lindsay Bathmann, freshman Samantha Senatore and junior Kaitlyn Scrivanich scoring their first goals of the season at 52:19, 54:15, and 61:21, respectively. Bathmann's game-winning goal was assisted by junior Maddie Musico, while senior Emily Beenders assisted Senatore. Both sophomore Emily DeGeyter and freshman Tori Rolls collected assists on Scrivanich's tally.
