JERSEY CITY, N.J. (May 7, 2021) – With only four Rutgers University-Camden players on hand for the New Jersey Athletic Conference East Division Men's Tennis Tournament semifinal match here Friday, top-seeded New Jersey City University had three forfeit wins before even stepping on the court.

All the Gothic Knights needed was to win two matches and they took care of business quickly in the first two doubles competitions, clinching a 5-0 win over Rutgers-Camden.
NJCU, 5-1, advances to the NJAC East Division championship, where it will host second-seeded The College of New Jersey on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Rutgers-Camden, the East Division's fourth seed, closes its season at 0-4.
NJCU automatically notched wins at third doubles and the fifth and sixth singles spots, since Rutgers-Camden didn't have any players to fill those positions. The Gothic Knights, who defeated Rutgers-Camden, 9-0, in the season's opening match on March 26, quickly wrapped up their semifinal win.
The NJCU team of Toni Cabot and Nico Teynie posted an 8-0 win at first singles over Rutgers-Camden juniors
Jose Vargas and
Jair Norman. At second doubles, the Gothic Knights' team of Jordi Julia and Alejandro Ley defeated Raptor freshmen
Gavin Fernan and
Andrew Yuen, 8-1.
