Jude Misko on the way to winning the NCAA Division III hammer championship last May
Misko earns second straight NJAC Field Athlete of the Week
CAMDEN, N.J. (Feb. 7, 2022) – Rutgers University-Camden senior
Jude Misko captured his second consecutive honor on Monday as the Field Athlete of the Week for New Jersey Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field.
Misko, who also earned the honor on January 31, won his latest NJAC award after finishing first out of 21 athletes in the weight throw at the Frank Colden Invitational. The meet was held Saturday at Ursinus College.
Misko's throw of 17.71 meters not only broke his own Rutgers-Camden program record, but it dominated the field at the Colden meet. The second-place throw was 15.20 meters.
Misko, who also earned his second straight honor as Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week, had set his old program weight throw mark of 17.03 meters at the NJAC Championships on Feb. 24, 2020.
On Jan. 31, Misko captured his first NJAC Field Athlete of the Week honor this winter after finishing first out of 13 athletes in the weight throw at Haverford College's McElligott Invitational. His winning throw was 16.87 meters.
Misko has recorded an ECAC-qualifying weight throw at all three of his meets this season. In his season-opening meet, Jan. 19 at the NYC Gotham Cup, his throw of 16.22 meters helped him finish sixth of 39 athletes. The only five people ahead of him were Division I throwers.
Misko finished the outdoor season last May by winning the Division III national championship with a hammer throw of 60.48 meters to become the 10th Rutgers-Camden men's track star to earn All-America honors. He also was an All-American as a member of the Rowan College at Gloucester County track team, when he won the NJCAA Division III hammer title.
During his brief career at Rutgers-Camden, Misko has captured the 2020 NJAC and ECAC indoor championships in the weight throw (the 2020-21 indoor season was cancelled due to the pandemic) and captured the NJAC hammer titles in both 2019 and 2021 (the 2020 outdoor season also was cancelled the pandemic). He has earned six NJAC Field Athlete of the Week honors, including four last spring, and has been the school's Raptor of the Week on six occasions.
In addition to his weight throw record set Saturday, he also holds the school's outdoor track record in the hammer throw (61.19 meters).
