Hilt, Prall break program records as Raptors open spring track season

GALLOWAY, N.J. (March 26, 2022) – Freshman Tobias Prall and senior Emily Hilt broke Rutgers University-Camden outdoor program records and Prall, Hilt and senior Jude Misko all won events as the Scarlet Raptors opened their spring track and field season at the Stockton Invitational here Saturday.
 
Prall finished first of six athletes with a triple jump of 13.40 meters, breaking the program mark of 13.25 meters set by Justin Edmonds on May 8, 2010 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships.
 
Hilt, meanwhile, finished first of 14 in the women's hammer throw (50.06 meters) to break her own mark of 47.26 meters, set on April 30, 2021 at the Osprey Twilight Meet.
 
Hilt not only won the hammer throw, but also finished first of 27 with a shot put of 12.78 meters, just shy of her 2021 program record of 12.99 meters. She also placed third of 23 in the discus (34.67 meters).
 
In addition to his triple jump mark, Prall placed second of 18 in the javelin (50.59 meters) and seventh of 20 in the long jump (6.01 meters).
 
Misko, the defending national champion in the men's hammer throw, opened his season with a toss of 60.66 meters to place first of 16 in the event. He holds the Rutgers-Camden program record of 61.19 meters in the hammer throw, set last spring.
 
In addition to Hilt, the women's field team received another strong performance from sophomore Alexis Marini, who finished third in the hammer throw (38.63 meters) and fourth in the discus (32.38 meters). Freshman Francis Hill finished eighth of 19 in the women's javelin (22.71 meters).
 
Freshman Evelyn Macias had a big day on the track, finishing fifth of 28 in the 100-meter dash (13.81) and tying for 17th of 49 in the 200-meter dash (28.38). She also was 15th of 23 in the long jump (4.38 meters).
 
Freshman Alyson Petro placed sixth at 100 meters (13.84), tied for eighth of 15 in the high jump (1.35 meters) and was ninth of 23 in the long jump (4.58 meters). Sophomore Lily Beck also tied for eighth in the high jump at 1.35 meters, while sophomore Lizette Abah placed 11th in the long jump (4.44 meters). Freshman Hannah Crowley finished seventh of 12 in the 110 hurdles (19.38).
 
A pair of Raptor men, senior Christopher Townsend and junior Jason Hyland, had strong finishes in the 1,500-meter field of 47 athletes. Townsend finished eighth (4:20.27) and Hyland was 13th (4:23.64).
 
Junior Andrew Barnhardt placed ninth of 25 athletes in the 3,000-meter run (9:33.20).
 
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Friday and Saturday in the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University.
