Prall breaks own program triple jump mark at Curran Invitational
CHESTER, PA (April 1, 2022) – Rutgers University-Camden freshman
Tobias Prall broke the program's triple jump record for the second week in a row and the Scarlet Raptors received several strong performances as they competed here Friday afternoon on the first day of the Danny Curran Invitational.
The meet was held at Widener University and concludes on Saturday.
Prall finished sixth in a field of 15 athletes in the triple jump with a distance of 13.59 meters. On March 26, at the season-opening Stockton Invitational, he broke a 12-year old program record in the event with a triple jump of 13.40 meters.
The women's team, meanwhile, received two more strong performances from its top two throwers, senior
Emily Hilt and sophomore
Alexis Marini. In the 22-athlete field for the discus, Hilt finished fourth (34.54 meters) and Marini was seventh (31.09 meters). In the field of 32 athletes for the shot put, Hilt placed third (12.71 meters) and Marini was 10th (10.08 meters). Hilt holds the program record in the shot put at 12.99 meters, set last spring.
Hilt and Marini were among six Scarlet Raptors to participate in the women's shot put competition, with freshman
Frances Hill finishing 25th (7.78 M), freshman
Karina Correa placing 28th (7.49 M), freshman
Alyson Petro finishing 31st (5.67 M) and junior
Bianca Cortes finishing 32nd (5.24 M).
In the men's shot put, freshman
Amir Lindor finished 20th out of 29 athletes (10.39 M) and sophomore
Meek Sumter placed 27th (8.89 M).
On the track, meanwhile juniors
Jason Hyland and
Andrew Barnhardt were among the 78 athletes in the men's 5,000-meter run. Hyland finished 40th (16:10.83) and Barnhardt was 46th (16:20.22).
