Raptors have strong start on first day of Osprey Open

GALLOWAY, N.J. (April 8, 2022) – The Rutgers University-Camden track teams got off to an impressive start on the first day of the two-day Osprey Open, held Friday at Stockton University.
 
Seniors Jude Misko and Emily Hilt both won their competitions in the hammer throw. Misko placed first of 32 (60.51 M), while Hilt was first of 29 (48.58 M). Sophomore Alexis Marini also had a strong performance in the hammer, finishing ninth (38.04 M).
 
Freshman Tobias Prall continued his outstanding work in the triple jump, placing fourth of 11 (13.25 M) one week after setting the program record in the event at 13.59 meters. Prall also competed in the javelin and placed 11th of 34 (50.43 M).
 
Junior Andrew Barnhardt added another event to his impressive outdoor track resume, finishing third of nine in the 10,000-meter run (36:36.86).
 
Freshman Alyson Petro and sophomore Lily Beck got off to good starts through the first four events of the 13-athlete heptathlon field. In the high jump, both Raptors tied for fifth (1.37 M). Petro finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.61) and Beck was ninth (19.62), while Petro was fourth in the 200-meter dash (28.09) and Beck was 12th (31.55). In the shot put, Petro was 10th (6.65 M) and Beck was 12th (5.31 M).
 
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Friday and Saturday for the Osprey Open at Stockton University.
