Raptors close two-day visit to Osprey Open
GALLOWAY, N.J. (April 9, 2022) – The Rutgers University-Camden track teams turned in several more strong performances as they competed on the final day of the two-day Osprey Open Saturday at Stockton University.
Six Raptor women competed in the 43-athlete field of the shot put, with senior
Emily Hilt placing fifth (12.83 meters) and sophomore
Alexis Marini finishing 15th (10.60 meters) to lead the way. Sophomore
Amara Eley finished 27th (9.52 meters).
Hilt also finished 10th of 41 in the discus (33.24 meters) and Marini was 11th (33.04 meters).
Both freshman
Alyson Petro and sophomore
Lily Beck competed in the 13-athlete heptathlon, with Petro finishing eighth (2,663 points) and Beck placing 11th (2,078). On Saturday, Petro completed the heptathlon by finishing seventh in the long jump (4.03 meters), 10th at 800 meters (3:04.13) and 11th in the javelin (13.83 meters). Beck, meanwhile, finished sixth in the long jump (4.08 meters), 10th in the javelin (15.06 meters) and 13th in the 800-meter run (3:31.07).
Freshman
Emily Owens finished 23rd of 39 in the 400-meter dash (1:08.88) and tied for 10th of 18 in the high jump (1.40 meters).
Sophomore
Lizette Abad finished 25th of 39 in the long jump (4.33 meters) and freshman
Danaijah Boyce was 34th of 54 in the 100-meter dash (14.42).
On the men's side, freshman
Tobias Prall placed sixth of 38 in the long jump (6.49 meters) and junior
Jason Hyland finished 11th of 48 runners at 1,500 meters (4:20.25).
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Thursday at 3:30 p.m. when they compete at the Gwynedd Mercy Midweek Twilight Invitational.
