Raptor women add three more titles on final day of ECAC Championships
NEW HAVEN, CT (May 19, 2022) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's and women's track teams dominated the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on the first day of competition Wednesday and the Scarlet Raptors completed their stellar performance here Thursday.
Emily Hilt swept ECAC championships in the hammer, discus and shot put
Rutgers-Camden captured eight ECAC titles and set two program records over the two-day meet, which was held at Southern Connecticut State University. The Rutgers-Camden women finished third out of 14 scoring teams with 71 points, while the men were fourth of 12 teams with 62 points.
Freshman
Alyson Petro, the lone person competing in the grueling heptathlon competition, won the ECAC championship with a strong two-day performance while collecting 2,646 points. On Wednesday, she competed in the 100-meter high hurdles (18.14), the high jump (1.40 meters), the shot put (6.37 meters) and the 200-meter dash (29.12). She completed her ECAC heptathlon title Thursday in the long jump (4.56 meters), javelin (14.50 meters) and the 800-meter run (3:21.65).
Rutgers-Camden's women also had outstanding performances in the discus and the shot put, behind senior
Emily Hilt and sophomore
Alexis Marini. In the nine-woman discus field, Hilt captured the ECAC title (34.87 meters) and Marini finished second (33.14 meters). In the shot put, Hilt won her third ECAC title of the two-day event with a distance of 12.93 meters. Marini finished fourth in the 10-athlete field with a shot put of 11.03 meters.
Freshman
Evelyn Macias finished sixth of six athletes in the long jump (4.66 meters) and sixth of seven in the 100-meter dash (13.80). She also joined sophomore
Lizette Abah, freshman
Danaijah Boyce and Petro to finish third of three teams in the 4x100 (53.94).
For the men, freshman
Tobias Prall finished third of six athletes in the long jump (6.51 meters) one day after winning a pair of ECAC titles.
The Scarlet Raptors captured five individual ECAC championships on Wednesday, with Prall winning both the men's triple jump and the men's javelin, junior
Jason Hyland capturing the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior
Andrew Barnhardt earning a title in the men's 10,000-meter run and Hilt winning the women's hammer throw. Hilt's hammer throw (52.42 M) and Prall's triple jump (13.72 M) distances broke their old program records.
