GLASSBORO, N.J. (Oct. 11, 2023) – The Rowan University women's soccer team has been receiving votes toward the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll all season long and the Profs looked the part here Wednesday night.
Rowan outshot Rutgers University-Camden, 24-7, on its way to a 3-0 victory in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game.
The victory lifts the Profs to 9-0-2 overall and 4-0-1 in the NJAC, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 6-6-1 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Rowan is 22-0-3 in its all-time series with Rutgers-Camden, including six straight wins.
Rowan jumped on the board in the 12th minute when sophomore forward Lianna SanFelice sent a pass across the box, where junior forward Mackenzie Clement hit a one-touch shot past Raptor senior goalie
Kayla McKeever.
Clement scored again only 2:52 into the second half with an unassisted tally for her 10th goal of the season. Ten minutes later, SanFelice notched her second goal of the year with an unassisted tally.
In addition to its 24-7 advantage in shots, the Profs also held a 14-4 margin in corner kicks. Rowan put 11 shots on goal, with one blocked and seven being saved by McKeever.
Rutgers-Camden had four shots on goal, two apiece by junior forward
Emily Owens and sophomore forward
Maresa Savarese.
Rowan junior goalie Calista Burke earned her shutout with four saves.
Rutgers-Camden returns to NJAC play Saturday when it entertains Rutgers-Newark at 1 p.m.
