CAMDEN, N.J. (May 16, 2023) – Not only is Rutgers University-Camden senior
Patrick DeMareo a rare talent on the golf course, but he's also one of the classiest players on the links.
For the second straight year, DeMareo has been named to the United East All-Sportsmanship Golf Team, which was released by the conference today.
DeMareo's second conference award for his sportsmanship caps a tremendous year which also saw him earn United East First Team honors for the second consecutive year. He finished fourth in a field of 44 golfers (75-73—148) at the conference championships on April 29.

DeMareo led the Scarlet Raptors at all four of their invitationals during the fall semester and all six events this spring, running his string to 16 straight invitationals where he emerged as the team's leading golfer. He was the medalist against Stockton University on Oct. 10, 2022, and in the Roadrunner Classic on May 8, 2023, giving him six medalist honors during his Raptor career.
DeMareo averaged 77.3 during the fall semester and 75.0 in the spring, leaving him with a 77.6 average in 32 pandemic-interrupted career rounds at Rutgers-Camden. DeMareo, who started his Rutgers-Camden career during the 2019 fall semester, saw both the 2020 spring and fall semester seasons get cancelled due to Covid 19.
The Scarlet Raptors were a member of the North Eastern Athletic Conference when the golf schedule resumed during the 2021 spring semester and DeMareo laid the cornerstone of his outstanding career. He earned NEAC Second Team, NEAC Rookie of the Year and NEAC Scholar-Athlete recognition.
Since the Scarlet Raptors became a member of the United East Conference during the 2021-22 scholastic year, he has captured United East First Team recognition during both spring semesters, in addition to adding his two United East All-Sportsmanship Team honors.
In addition to golf this spring, DeMareo joined the men's tennis team midway through the season and posted a 2-2 singles record and an 0-3 doubles mark. He rose to as high as second singles in the Raptors' lineup.
DeMareo was a four-time All-Conference First Team golfer at West Deptford High School, while also lettering in soccer, winter track and spring track.
A Dean's List student as a Business major at Rutgers-Camden, DeMareo has been a member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll for all seven of his full semesters on campus. That honor for the spring semester will be announced later this month once all grades have been completed. He was one of only 26 athletes on the 119-member 2022 Spring semester AD Honor Roll to post a 4.0 GPA.
