Josie Jackson-Conner scored two goals and sophomore forward
Maresa Savarese added a goal and an assist as the Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer team rolled to a 3-0 season-opening win over Neumann University here Friday night in the first regular-season soccer game at the Camden Athletic Complex.
The Scarlet Raptors out-shot the Knights, 21-1, on the way to their victory.
Jackson-Conner scored only 1:37 into the game, assisted by Savarese, on a shot from inside the box. That was the only first-half goal the Raptors managed, despite an 11-0 advantage in shots and a 3-0 margin in corner kicks during the opening 45 minutes.
Shortly after the half, Savarese tacked on an insurance goal in the 47th minute. Jackson-Conner added the Raptors' final tally, assisted by
Emily Owens, in the 58th minute.
Rutgers-Camden junior
Michaela Graham played most of the game without needing to make a save. Freshman
Morgan Riley saw her first collegiate action in the final two minutes, facing the Knights' lone shot, which was off target.
The Scarlet Raptors conclude play in the season-opening Cialella Soccer Classic on Saturday when they host King's College at 4 p.m.
