Bordon leads Raptor women at season-opening Osprey Open
GALLOWAY, N.J. (Sept. 16, 2023) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's cross country team opened its 2023 schedule here Saturday, placing 15th at the Osprey Open.
The women's meet, which featured 16 scoring teams, saw the Raptors run seven athletes and collect 430 points. The 6K race was won by Moravian with 49 points, beating out host Stockton (66 points).
Stockton's Kayla Kass finished first out of 133 runners in a time of 23:02.6, barely edging Malia Anderson of California (PA), who finished second at 23:06.8.
Rutgers-Camden had only one runner in the 8K, 15-team men's event, which also was won by Moravian (50 points). Jonathan Thrush of California (PA) won the 132-man event in a time of 24:58.5.
Sophomore
Isabella Bordon paced the Raptor women, finishing 101st (31:13.1), while junior
Alexa Wilson placed 109th (33:13.5) and freshman
Xochitl Bautista-Castelan was third on the Raptors and 118th overall in a time of 35:06.0. Freshman
Lindsay Lopez Trejo finished 119th overall (35:11.1), freshman
Tiffany Chan was 120th (35:34.7), senior
Carly Malia was 126th (37:01.2) and freshman
Kaitlyn Novak was 132nd (38:46.4) for the Scarlet Raptors.
On the men's side, the lone Raptor running was grad student
Miguel Angel Gisone, who finished 103rd (33:55.2).
The Scarlet Raptors will return to action on Friday, September 29 at the Dan Talbot Invitational, which will be held at Rose Tree Park in Media, Pennsylvania. The men's race begins at 5 p.m., followed by the women at 5:45 p.m.
