Scarlet Raptors open golf season at United East Preview

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, Penn. (Sept. 26, 2023) – After their scheduled season opener was cancelled by rainy conditions on Sept. 18, the Rutgers University-Camden Scarlet Raptors finally were able to open their fall golf season here Tuesday at the United East Preview tournament.
 
The event was held at the Par 70 Philmont Country Club and featured 43 golfers, eight complete teams and one partial team. Peyton Mussina of Penn College was the medalist with a round of 75.
 
Led by Mussina, Penn College won the event with a score of 327. Rutgers-Camden finished sixth with a 353.
 
Rutgers-Camden was paced by graduate student David Gibson, who carded a round of 85 to tie for 10th place. Freshman Aidan Riley and sophomore Reid Walker tied for 21st with an 89, while freshman Santino Leone tied for 25th with a 90.
 
The Raptors return to action Oct. 16 when they compete in the F&M Fall Invitational, hosted by Franklin and Marshall College at the Bent Creek Country Club in Lititz, Pennsylvania.
