GETTYSBURG, Penn. (Sept. 8, 2023) – The only winner in the scheduled men's soccer game between Rutgers University-Camden and Gettysburg College here Friday night was the weather.

With 8:38 remaining in a scoreless first half, a lightning delay took both teams off the field and they never returned. After a delay of nearly two hours, the storms and pouring rain forced cancellation of the unofficial contest.

Before the storms hit, the Bullets had the better offensive threats and almost broke a scoreless deadlock. The biggest play came at 25:36 when Raptor junior goalie Sean Boen made a terrific save on a shot by the Gettysburg's Aidan Muller to keep the game scoreless.

At the time action was stopped, Rutgers-Camden held a 4-3 edge in shots and Gettysburg had a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. Both Boen and Gettysburg keeper Kevin Muhic made one saves apiece in the game before the storms wiped out all statistics.

The non-contest leaves the Scarlet Raptors still sporting a 3-0 record, while the Bullets remain at 0-1.

The Rutgers-Camden men return to action Saturday with a 7 p.m. game at perennial national power Messiah University
