Bordon leads Scarlet Raptor women at Haverford Invitational

HAVERFORD, Penn. (Oct. 25, 2024) –The Rutgers University-Camden women's cross country had its final tune-up for the conference championship meet when it participated in the Haverford Invitational here Friday at Haverford College.
 
Six Scarlet Raptors ran in the 61-woman field of the 5K event, with the first five posting their 5K personal records at Rutgers-Camden. Junior Isabella Bordon finished 45th in a time of 22:50.0. Junior Xochitl Bautista-Castelan placed 50th in a time of 23:38.9, while sophomore A'Maya Stanard was 53rd in a time of 23:56.1.
 
Senior Maria Lopez, junior Evelyn Macias Pilco and sophomore Mya Cabanas Montero rounded out the Raptors' team, finishing 58th, 59th and 61st, respectively. Lopez posted a time of 27:36.8, Macias Pilco posted a 28:12.3 clocking and Cabanas Montero posted a 38:59.0 time.
 
Elizabeth Martell of Villanova won the race in a 17:48.4 clocking. Penn finished first with 28 points in the nine-team field. Rutgers-Camden was seventh (185).
 
Both the Rutgers-Camden men's team and women's team will return to action on Saturday, November 2, when they compete in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships at The College of New Jersey in Ewing. The women's 6K race starts at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men's 8K race at 11:15 a.m.
