Four Scarlet Raptors honored on All-NJAC Women's Soccer Team

CAMDEN, N.J. (November 5, 2024) – Four members of the Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer team earned honors when the NJAC released its All-New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Team today.
 
Senior Emily Owens (Audubon, NJ/Audubon) and junior Gianna Patitucci (Millville, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) were named to the NJAC Second Team as a midfielder and defender, respectively, while both sophomore forward Brianne Reeves (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and senior defender Amy Maurer (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) captured NJAC Honorable Mention.
 
The all-conference honor marked the third time Maurer has been named All-NJAC Honorable Mention, while Patitucci added her second honor after earning NJAC Honorable Mention a year ago.
 
The All-NJAC honors were the first for Owens and Reeves.

Owens completed her stellar four-year soccer career this season, serving as one of the team's four captains and starting all 18 of her games. She finished fifth on the team in scoring with seven points, collecting three goals and one assist. She tied for the team lead with two game-winning goals.
 
For her Scarlet Raptor career, Owens appeared in 71 games. She started 54, including all 36 of her games over her junior and senior seasons. She collected 11 goals and nine assists for 31 career points. Three of her career goals were game winners, including tallies in back-to-back games September 15 and 18 against King's and Bryn Athyn this season.
 
During her junior season in 2023, Owens was named to the Mayor's Cup All-Tournament Team in Oneonta, New York (Sept. 9-10) and captured honors as Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week on Sept11.
 
Owens also lettered with Rutgers-Camden's indoor track team during the 2021-22 season and with the 2022 outdoor track program.
 
A triple-major with Childhood Studies, Gender Studies and Psychology, Owens is a Dean's List student who has captured numerous academic honors at Rutgers-Camden. With more honors yet to be announced for the 2024-25 academic year, Owens already has earned NJAC Academic Honorable Mention for both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 scholastic years and has been a six-time member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
 
Patitucci has captured All-NJAC honors during both of her seasons at Rutgers-Camden after playing at West Virginia Wesleyan College as a freshman. One of the top defenders in the conference, Patitucci was named NJAC Honorable Mention during her first season with the Scarlet Raptors in 2023 before adding NJAC Second Team recognition this year.
 
One of the team's four captains this season, Patitucci started all 19 Rutgers-Camden games, notching one goal and two assists. She helped the team post six shutouts and limit opponents to one goal on six other occasions. During her two-year Scarlet Raptor career, she has started all 35 of her games, including all 13 shutouts the team registered over that span.
 
A Dean's List student as a Health Sciences major, Patitucci was a member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll during both of her first two semesters on campus in the 2023-24 scholastic year.
 
Maurer, who served as a team captain for the second straight season, captured her third straight NJAC Honorable Mention after starting all 19 Raptor games. During her four-year career, she appeared in all 72 games that Rutgers-Camden played. She made 65 starts, including a start in all 55 games the team played for the last three seasons.
 
A stellar center back, she contributed to 22 shutouts over her career, while adding five goals (two game winners) and one assist for 11 points.
 
A fine all-around athlete, Maurer also played basketball for the Scarlet Raptors during the 2021-22 season.
 
Academically, the dual Gender Studies and Sociology major has captured numerous honors, including a berth on the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Women's Soccer Team in 2023. She is a two-time NJAC Academic Honorable Mention (2022-23 and 2023-24 scholastic years) and has been a Dean's List student and a member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll during all six of her complete semesters, earning a 4.0 GPA every semester.
 
Maurer also has been a two-year member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Rutgers-Camden.
 
Reeves joined Maurer as a SAAC member this season, while appearing in 18 of the Scarlet Raptors' 19 games. She finished tied for third on the team in scoring with three goals and three assists for nine points. Her biggest game came during a 3-1 win at New Jersey City University (Oct. 19) when she scored two goals and assisted on the game-winning tally. In her next game, she scored the tying goal with 3:21 remaining in a 1-1 deadlock at William Paterson University (Oct. 23).
 
During her two-year career, Reeves has played in 36 of the team's 37 games.
