Golfers in fourth place after first day of United East Championships
HUNTINGDON VALLEY, Penn. (April 27, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden golf team finished in fourth place out of nine teams on the first day of the United East Conference Men's Golf Championships here Saturday.
The two-day championships are being played at the Philmont Country Club, a Par 70, 6,502-yard course. The United East Championships will conclude Sunday.
Defending United East champion Penn College is the first-round leader with a 304, seven strokes ahead of Penn State-Harrisburg. Rutgers-Camden stands fourth with a 332 team score, five strokes behind Penn State-Abington.
Penn College's Peyton Mussina is the first-day leader with an even-par 70.
Freshman
Aidan Riley led the Scarlet Raptors on the first day with a 78, tying for fourth place among 45 golfers. Freshman
Santino Leone tied for 20th with a round of 84, while sophomores
Pearse Lee and
Reid Walker both shot rounds of 85 to tie for 23rd place.
