Dinerman, Edmundo capture NJAC weekly honors
CAMDEN, N.J. (Feb. 10, 2025) – Rutgers University-Camden athletes
Jacob Dinerman (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township) and
Courtney Edmundo (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) are no strangers to New Jersey Athletic Conference weekly honors, and both student-athletes earned another NJAC award Monday.
Dinerman was honored when the NJAC named its weekly awards for Men's Indoor Track and Field, naming him as the conference's Track Athlete of the Week. Edmundo captured honors as the Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.
Dinerman, who also earned Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 13, captured today's honor after finishing 16th out of 90 in the mile run at the FastTrack National Invitational, setting a program record in the process. The event, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, New York, saw Dinerman run the mile in 4:10.92, breaking the program mark of 4:12.90 set by Frank Iwanicki on March 5, 2010, at the IC4A Championships.
A junior who is a Liberal Arts major at Rutgers-Camden, Dinerman has turned in numerous outstanding performances in his first year at Rutgers-Camden. He was named the NJAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Sept. 9 and finished the fall semester earning All-NJAC First Team honors in cross country. He has captured honors as the Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week for cross country (Oct. 7 and Nov. 4) and for indoor track (Jan. 13).
Edmundo has had a stellar freshman year as a forward for the women's basketball program, earning NJAC Rookie of the Week honors three times (Nov. 11, Nov. 25 and Feb. 10). She also was named Honorable Mention at the John K. Adams Tip-Off Classic (Nov. 15 and 17) at Rutgers-Newark and was the Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week on Nov. 25.
Edmundo received her latest NJAC honor after averaging 14.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in the Raptors' two games last week. She added seven assists, three steals and two blocks. In a game against The College of New Jersey on Wednesday, Edmundo collected her seventh double-double of the season, collecting 15 points and 12 rebounds, while adding two assists, one block and one steal. In Saturday's game against Kean University, she had 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block.
For the season, the Biology major leads the Scarlet Raptors in rebounding (9.1 rpg), steals (36) and blocks (8), while placing second in scoring (10.2 ppg) and assists (51).
Both Dinerman and Edmundo also captured Dean's List recognition during the fall semester, when they were members of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll. Dinerman was one of 23 athletes on the 167-member AD Honor Roll to earn a 4.0 GPA during the 2024 Fall semester.
