CAMDEN, N.J. (May 9, 2025) – Juniors Jacob Dinerman (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township) and Walter Pierce (East Orange, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep) both earned honors today when the New Jersey Athletic Conference released its 2025 All-NJAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Team.

Dinerman earned NJAC First Team honors in the 1,500-meter run, while adding NJAC Second Team recognition at 800 meters. Pierce won NJAC Second Team honors for the decathlon.

The awards were based on the final placements at the NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held last weekend at The College of New Jersey.

Dinerman won the conference title at 1,500 meters, finishing first of 20 athletes in a time of 3:55.46. He placed second of 28 athletes at 800 meters with a PR time of 1:53.95.

Pierce, meanwhile, compiled 5,217 points in the decathlon to finish second out of seven athletes in the two-day decathlon. He broke his own program record of 4,784 points, set at the 2024 NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Dinerman had a banner year in his first two semesters at Rutgers University-Camden, capturing NJAC First Team honors in all three seasons. He finished sixth out of 89 runners during the NJAC Cross Country Championships on Nov. 2, posting a time of 25:41.5. He went on to finish 21st of 186 runners (25:39.3) at the NCAA Metro Regionals.

During indoor track season, Dinerman set a Rutgers-Camden program record in the mile run (4:10.92) on Feb. 7 at the FastTrack National Invitational. He earned All-NJAC First Team honors at the conference meet by winning the championship in the mile run (4:11.39) in an 18-man field, while also earning NJAC Second Team recognition at 3,000 meters. He finished second out of 15 athletes at 3,000 meters in a PR time of 8:41.01.

Between his First Team honors in cross country and in indoor track, Dinerman became only the second athlete at Rutgers-Camden to earn that unique double in the same school year. During the 2008-09 year, Travis Stewart captured NJAC First Team honors in cross country before winning the NJAC indoor title at 3,000 meters.

When Dinerman added his NJAC First Team honor in outdoor track, he set a new standard by sweeping the conference First Team recognition in all three seasons.

A Liberal Studies major, Dinerman is a Dean's List student and a member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll, where he was one of only 23 athletes on the 167-member 2024 Fall AD Honor Roll to earn a 4.0 GPA.

Pierce has been one of the Scarlet Raptors most versatile and talented track athletes for the last two years. He holds indoor track program records in the pentathlon (2,654 points) and the heptathlon (3,897 points), while also helping to set a unique record at the Collegeville Classic in the Mixed 4x400 relay (4:05.02). He broke his own program decathlon record during the NJAC outdoor meet.

During his record-breaking decathlon last weekend, Pierce finished first of the seven competitors in the 400-meter dash (a PR of 52.31), second in the 100-meter dash (a PR of 11.31) and the shot put (a PR of 11.21 meters), third in the discus (a PR of 27.73 meters), third in the pole vault (a PR of 3.05 meters), third in the javelin (a PR of 29.61 meters) and third in both the 110 hurdles (16.99) and the 1,500-meter run (5:19.64).

Pierce also finished fourth in the high jump (1.62 meters) and fifth in the long jump (a PR of 5.70 meters).

In addition to his exploits with the indoor and outdoor track teams, Pierce also competed during two semesters with the Rutgers-Camden golf program and was a member of the 2023 cross country team.

A transfer from New Jersey City University where he was a golf and track athlete as a freshman, Pierce is a Sports Management major at Rutgers-Camden.
