Dinerman, Watson set program records at Delaware Invitational

NEWARK, Del. (April 10, 2026) – Juniors Jacob Dinerman and Dyheim Watson set Rutgers University-Camden program records and the Scarlet Raptors turned in several strong performances as they competed here Friday on the second day of the Delaware Invitational.
 
Dinerman broke a 16-year old program record, running the 1,500 meters in 3:51.98 to beat the 3:52.89 set by Frank Iwanicki at the Tuppeny Twilight Last Chance Meet on May 10, 2010. He finished third of 27 athletes. Dinerman also competed in the 400-meter dash for the first time, finishing 12th of 40 in a time of 50.00.
 
Watson, meanwhile, broke the program record with a discus throw of 43.23 meters to finish fourth of 23 athletes. The old mark of 38.60 meters was held by the Raptors' current Head Coach, Ian Chrzanowski, set on April 28, 2007, at the Lions Invitational. Watson also placed 11th of 23 in the shot put (10.95 meters), while freshman Michael Hawkins was 12th in the shot put (10.60 meters).
 
Scarlet Raptor freshman Kamari Brown finished ninth in a field of 35 athletes in the 100-meter dash (11.46) and eighth of 46 in the 200-meter dash (22.63), while freshman Joseph Simone finished 11th of 20 at 800 meters (2:09.66).
 
Sophomore Lian Thang placed second of six athletes in the pole vault (3.83 meters).
 
In the men's high jump, freshman Abdulbasit Shodolu finished fifth of 11 (1.85 meters), while senior Brandon Butts finished eighth of 19 in the long jump (5.58 meters), followed by freshman Willyam Dupreville, who finished ninth (5.53 meters). Dupreville also finished third of eight in the triple jump (13.33 meters).
 
In the women's discus, freshman Asha Pensa Johnson finished fifth of 26 athletes (38.79 meters), senior Kayla Franklin was ninth (36.13 meters) and freshman Arianna Lalli placed 11th (31.59 meters). Franklin and Pensa Johnson also led the Raptors in the 21-athlete field of the shot put, finishing fifth (11.43 meters) and 10th (9.67 meters), respectively.
 
Senior Deleon Benjamin finished 22nd of 35 in the 100-meter dash (14.07) and 23rd of 34 in the 200-meter dash (28.74), while freshman Dejia Robert made her season debut and finished 13th of 28 at 800 meters (2:36.89).
 
Freshman Talia Thomasson placed eighth of 15 in the women's 100 hurdles (17.09) and seventh of 10 in the 400 hurdles (1:15.60).
 
The Scarlet Raptors will travel to Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania, next Friday for the first day of the two-day Paul Donahue Invitational.
