Watson wins hammer competition at Paul Donahue Invitational

CHESTER, Penn. (April 18, 2026) – Rutgers University-Camden junior Dyheim Watson finished first out of 31 athletes in the hammer throw to lead the Scarlet Raptors' track team on the second day of the Paul Donahue Invitational at Widener University.
 
Watson had a PR of 48.12 meters in the hammer throw, while freshman Muhammad Elijah Samad-Muhammad placed 16th of 32 athletes in the javelin with a PR of 48.41 meters.
 
Freshman Abdulbasit Shodolu finished 13th of 25 in the high jump (1.78 meters).
 
On the track, freshman Kamari Brown was 17th of 67 in the 100-meter dash (11.13) and freshman Jamir Driggins placed 18th of 28 in the 110 high hurdles (16.13).
 
The Rutgers-Camden women also had several strong performances, with senior Deleon Benjamin finishing 32nd of 41 in the 400-meter dash (1:04.23) and 56th of 64 in the 200-meter dash (28.40). Freshman Dejia Robert placed 40th of 67 at 800 meters (2:28.95.
 
Freshman Talia Thomasson competed in both hurdle events, placing 17th of 24 in the 100 high hurdles (16.68) and 14th of 24 in the 400 hurdles (1:08.35).
 
Freshman Sofia Tabet finished 49th of 57 in the 100-meter dash (14.03), 59th of 64 in the 200-meter dash (28.81) and 38th of 41 in the 400-meter dash (1:07.55).
 
The Scarlet Raptors will send several members to the Penn Relays next week and return to action as a team for the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 2-3.
